On the morning of September 2, an opening ceremony for students of Year 2016 to study in China sponsored by Zimbabwe Presidential Scholarship of Hengshun Zhongsheng was held in Ocean University of China. At the opening ceremony were present Minister of Information, Radio, Film and Television of Zimbabwe and Executive Director of Zimbabwe Presidential Scholarship Christopher Chindoti Mushohwe, Zimbabwe's Deputy Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Kitchen Meshack, Deputy Director of Department of Western Asian and African Affairs of Ministry of Commerce Cao Jiachang, Deputy Secretary of Qingdao Municipal CPC Committee Wang Wei, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Ocean University of China Ju Chuanjin, President of Ocean University of China Yu Zhigang, Chairman of Hengshun Zhongsheng Group Jia Quanchen, Vice Chairman Jia Yulan, and President Jia XiaoYu and other leaders.

At the first stage of ceremony, Zimbabwean delegation, Hengshun Zhongsheng Group and Ocean University of China held a meet-and-greet event where gifts were exchanged.

Later, ceremony was officially convened at the lecture hall of Xingzhi Building in Ocean University of China.

President Yu Zhigang first delivered a welcome speech, indicating that Ocean University of China values exchanges with developing countries under “the Belt and Road” Initiative. Zimbabwe is an old friend of China; Zinabwean students are warmly welcomed to Ocean University of China.

Minister Christopher Chindoti Mushohwe expressed gratitude to Hengshun Zhongsheng for sponsorship and cultivation of students studying here. According to him, Hengshun Zhongshen, as model of enterprise with social responsibility, is welcomed to Zimbabwe for long-term development and joint exploitation of resources. Ocean University of China is beautiful and renowned. He would hope the students will study hard here, living up expectations on them.

President Jia Xiaoyu extended warm welcome to these students and expressed gratitude to Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Qingdao Municipal CPC Committee and Government, Chinese Ministry of Education, China Scholarship Council and Ocean University of China for their concern and support to the Group “Going Global” and this student program. Meanwhile, he would hope that these sponsored students will cherish the opportunity, regard China as second hometown, get in-depth knowledge of Chinese culture, strive to learn professional knowledge and master specialized skills to make contributions to construction and development of their motherland and forge deeper friendship between China and Zimbabwe.

Deputy Director Cao Jiachang stated that Zimbabwe is a good friend and partner of China. China highly values cooperation with Zimbabwe on human resources, which is not limited to government level, and powerful enterprises are also encouraged and supported to take active part. “Zimbabwe Presidential Scholarship Program of Hengshun Zhongsheng” is a positive attempt highly valued by China and Zimbabwe.

Deputy Secretary gave a brief introduction to Qingdao. “Hengshun Zhongsheng is an enterprise in pursuit of culture of gratitude, and Chairman Jia Quanchen is an outstanding entrepreneur of far sight and a heart of gold. This Scholarship Program not only benefits Zimbabwe, but also cultivates talents for overseas enterprises of Hengshun Zhongsheng,” he said.

At last, leaders present had a photo taken with Zimbabwean students.
